I learned to drive a car with two different driving schools. When I lived in Sussex I learned with Daniels Driving School. It was one of the best driving schools in the South East of England. I was sad when my job was transferred to Northumberland. I looked into finding one of the best driving schools in the North East of England. I found one called driving Schools for Life. My driving instructor had been so helpful at teaching me defensive driving. I had easily passed my theory test but I had felt really nervous about doing the practical test.
My first practical driving test was on 10 May. I had got in the car and gone down the High Street looking out for hazards like pedestrians crossing the road and cars moving out from parking spaces. I had done well with my turn in the road but my backing around the corner had meant I failed. I had ended up bumping the curb. I had booked my second attempt at the practical driving test for 21 June. That time all had gone well. I had backed around the corner perfectly.
I was in the passenger seat in my friend Lily's car. She pointed out a bongo. I liked it because it was like a home on wheels. It was a small camper vanand looked just a bit bigger than a car. We stopped off at the garage that had them for sale. The sales man had told us they were imports from Japan. He showed us one of the bongos. It had two seats in the front, a kitchen in the back with a table. In the triangular roof there was a double bed. The sales man explained that it would be suitable for four people. He said he had bongos from £4,000 to £10,000 for sale.
I bought the yellow bongo for £7,000. I spent every weekend going of travelling in it. It gave me such an interest in travel. I was able to drive in the day and sleep in the night in my comfortable triangular roof. At a camping and caravanning site in Dorset I got chatting to a man called Steven. He was tall, dark and handsome. He and I went to the subtropical gardens and to see the swans. We had held hands and at the end of the day had kissed passionately. The next day we met up again and had enjoyed going shopping in Weymouth. He had told me he came from York and I couldn't believe my luck because I lived in Newcastle. That is how I met my darling Steven.
